Icknield Way starts at Ivinghoe Beacon in Buckinghamshire where it links with the Ridgeway and runs for about 110 miles to Knettishall Heath on the Norfolk/Suffolk border. The Icknield Way is unique among long distance tracks because it can claim to be “the oldest road in Britain”.
The walkers, mountain bikers and equestrians pages have links to maps of the respective routes and reflect the slight differences. The Icknield Way Path – A Walkers’ Guide is a 72 page A5 size comprehensive guide to the walkers route. Available on line from the Icknield Path website.
More details of the Icknield Way is available on the two websites. For walkers and the governance of the Icknield Way Association visit the Icknield Way Path website. Riders will find information on the Icknield Way Trail website.
The Icknield Way is waymarked along its route and has axe designed finger signs at the roadside.
